This offering is for an extremely rare original set of original characters from theBuster Brown Gang. They were featured on the "Smiling Ed McConnell's Radio Show" of the times. The characters were available as store displays to Buster Brown shoe stores in the early 1940's. This set hung in a small-town Oklahoma shoe store until sold the store in the 1980's.
The set includes: * Buster Brown and Tige * Froggy the Gremlin * Midnight the Cat * Squeaky the Mouse. The dimensions are: Buster Brown 22"x24", Froggy 22"x31", Midnight 28"x38", Squeaky 19"x31. The characters are constructed from galvanized rubber and have been professionally restored to ensure their stability. The last pictures below show the backs of three characters, and how they have been stabilized with wood. Buster Brown pictures show aluminum rods in back that allow him to hang without putting pressure on his character. Buster Brown has some very thin glue lines visible from the front and Froggy has a little paint loss on his nose and feet, with a little cracking where his feet attach to his body. Midnight's tail has been reconnected. They are not perfect, but when they are hanging on the wall they have fabulous color, personality and truly are a one-of-a-kind Buster Brown collector's dream. I have never seen another complete set intact with ALL the individual characters of the gang. This is a magnificent set and will not disappoint. The characters are large and heavy; will be professionally packed by Mailboxs USA and insured. Shipping/Handling/ Insurance for the set will be a fixed amount of $300. Due to the weight of the individual characters and packing requirements, the sale will be non-refundable and the characters cannot be shipped out of the lower 48 states. Pick up can also be arranged in either Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or in the Dallas, Texas metroplex. Back Sides Owner will be traveling so will be unable to take to packer until Thursday, March 10.
