is a great find it's a California gold rush 1850's scale with weights and a coin in the box. the box appears to be hand made for the scale , the hinge ans latch are wire with a brass hook the scale has 2 brass trays that are 2 1/2 inches across the scale is about 6 inches across . the string that hang need to be fixed the wood box is 6 3/4 x 3 1/4 inches the 2 weights are 5 and 6 dwts . with 5 and 6 dots on the backs. this is a great 1850's piece and the coin is dated 1849 the pictures show all take a look
