Up for bid are two original sketches drawn by Charles M. Schulz in 1966. Charles M. Schulz is the creator of the comic strip "Peanuts" and was living in Sebastopol, California during the time the sketches were drawn. The sketches belonged to my wife who is now deceased. She lived in San Francisco during the mid-sixties and was a friend of the mechanic who worked on Mr. Schulz's car. The mechanic knew she liked the comic strip and hounded Charles Schulz each time he came in for a sketch. At first Mr. Schulz declined but finally relented and drew these two sketches. Below is a description of each sketch. Each sketch was drawn on whatever paper was on hand when Mr. Schulz consented to draw them. Both sketches are of Snoopy and they are being sold in "as is" condition, but are guaranteed to be authentic. Please read each description carefully and contact me if you need further information.The first sketch shows Snoopy lying on his doghouse and is signed "Best wishes - Charles M. Schulz". It has "Dee Webb's Towne House" and the date "1966 NOV 19 AM 9 36" stamped lightly in the upper right-hand corner. The ink on the stamp is very light at the top and gradually gets darker towards the bottom. In the lower left-hand corner of the sketch is a stamp with Charles Schulz's Sebastopol street address. The right side of the sketch has light oil stains from being handled by the mechanic. The top center of the sketch has two small pen holes.The second sketch shows Snoopy dancing and is signed "Schulz". In the upper left-hand corner is the date "APR 6 1966" stamped in red. The sketch was taped to a piece of yellow construction paper. Over the forty plus years since it was drawn the tape has dried out and yellowed.TERMS: Payment to be made with money orders or cashier checks only. No Pay Pal, please.
