Period Chinese Famille Rose Vase with Figural Decoration Signed with a Blue Enamel 4 character Qianlong Mark The Republic of China Period started at the end of the Qing period in 1912 and lasted until 1949. Description of this item: You are bidding on an o riginal Chinese Famille Rose (Rose Family enamels) porcelain vase made during the Republic of China Period (1912 - 1949). This vase is signed on the base with a hand painted Blue Enamel 4 character Qianlong reign mark in a double square. The vase is finely potted and is beautifully decorated with a polychrome enamel interior scene of a Scholar at his desk being visited by 2 beautifully painted ladies. A sign of the high quality of this vase is seen in the white background of the Scroll Painting on the wall, which is white enamel rather than just using the white of the porcelain. The reverse is decorated with a 10 character poem in black 'Kaishu' calligraphy signed with 3 seals in red. This vase measures 5 ½ inches (14.0 cm) in height, the top rim is 2 ¼ inches (5.8 cm) in diameter, the base 2 inches (5.0 cm) in diameter and it is ca. 2 ¾ inches (7.2 cm) in diameter at its widest point.
