This is not a copy or reproduction, the frame and paper as well as the clothes Harriet is wearing indicate this was made during the civil war era, I have not had a complete appraisial done, however this information was found through an online professional appraisel, so please use your own judgement. This item is a must have if you collect civil war memoribilla; If in fact with a complete appraisel this is Harriet Tubman,she Stands in time as an important icon of history not limited to the Cival War era but as a spy for the union during this era she worked undercover giving inside information which enabled many unsuspected surprises for the Confederates . She worked for the Union army as a spy during the Civil War! , she went with Colonel James Montgomery and about 150 former slaves giving lives as soldiers on a gunboat raid in South Carolina in 1863. This particualar item was purchased at my local fleamarket in South Carolina;T is some obvious moisture damage to the picture itself and the frame. The re-placement glass is cracked and broke in several places, so its save to say it should be restored. The unknown flour-ry/chalky/ yellowy material that is combed over the wood frame in a fancy wavy design is flaking off in some spots. We purchased it because we thought someone on Ebay might like it. This is an absoulute auction and will be sold to the highest bidder at auctions end. More information and research can easily be googled.
