Original Civil War Model 1858 smoothside canteen used by Union and Confederate sides. The canteen has its original sling but is stained and has a few tears and holes from age, but is still connected. The canteen itself is in great condition with a nice grayish patina throughout. The cork has a break in it from dry rot and storage, but is still intact. I believe this is a late war production. There are no makers marks or inspection stamps anywhere on the canteen or sling.
