This auction is for an Original Civil War Starr Carbine Percussion Barrel. 21" Original length. .54 cal. breechloader. Brown Finish. Sharp Markings above tang "Starr's Patent Sept 14th 1858". Barely Visible Inspector's "HSS" mark on the left side rear. Some very faint markings on top of the barrel in front of the rear sight dovetail. Barrel and Tang Serial Numbers Match, #16764 Sept 9th1864 vintage. This range was issued to Co.G 20th NY Vol Cav. and other Union Cav. Units. See pictures. Good Saddle Ring, Front Sight and Rear Dovetail. Pitting worse on the outside of the barrel, much better in other areas and smooth internal surfaces. Bore is surprising and has very fair rifling. Too good for a relic. I' ve seen worse being used and carried around at reenactments & events. Good Project pc. or Display. Part of a 50+ year collection of Civil War items from Xenia, Ohio.
