This is an original etching in very good condition by Diana Thorne of a Horse, Scottish Terrier, Boston terrier and a fox terrier pups titled "Big Boy" in pencil. Diana Thorne (1894-1962) was an author/illustrator for over 40 books and an illustrator for another 50 books, almost all about dogs and otheranimals, as well as a book on drawing them. She was also a superb etcher and had a following of collectors for her animal etchings. Again mainly dogs, but the occasional horse as well. The principal body of her work was done in the 1920's to 1940's. She is among the best known artists and etchers of animals along with Marguerite Kirmse and Morgan Dennis in that time period. The etching plate measures 4" x 8-3/4" approx. and 7-1/2" x 11" approx. paper size. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.
