Confederate currency is hard to come by and very expensive! 's a must-have for the black art and Confederate currency collectors. This is a one of a kind original handpainting. It is painted in acrylic colors of: beige, black and white. It is painted on stretch canvas. It measures 24" across x 12" long. This painting was inspired by the 'Ten Dollar' Confederate note from Richmond, Va and is one of my favorite bills. During the Civil War many Southern states depicted images of scenes, maidens, children, trains, eagles and slaves in their Confederate currency. On the original bill the man is smiling, I choose give him a more serious look - like his really concentrating on his job. This design is painted on a beige background, the word 'TEN' is painted inside two large mirror-image emblems and is repeated on the left and on the right. On the center top is a black slave picking cotton with two baskets. He is hunched over some cotton bushes in bare feet, his trousers are tied at the ankle. On the background t are houses and trees. Under the top design is the word 'TEN DOLLARS' in a square sign, and under this, the word Richmond, VA., date September 2, 1861. It is sealed for durability. Comes ready to hang.
