An original Signed Limited Edition etching of 'Duke of Wellington Statue and Princes Street, Edinburgh, Scotland by Scottish landscape artist Robert Houston (1891-1942). Robert Houston is a well listed Scottish artist, born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire he studied at the Glasgow School of Art and was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolors in 1936. During his career he exhibited at the Royal Academy six times and at the Royal Scottish Society eight times. This early image shows a view of Princes Street in Edinburgh, Scotland, including the Duke of Wellington Statue. Dates to around 1920/30. Image size approx. 4 inches x 5.5 inches with the artist's signature in pencil to lower right-hand margin. In the original mount with black lacquered frame & glazed (13 inches x 10.5 inches) from 'Boots' Picture Framing & Art Department. The label on the back states this is an 'original etching by Robert Houston' and is a 'limited edition' with the 'plate to be destroyed'. Front of frame has a small piece missing at bottom right corner, but otherwise this rare etching seems in very good condition for age. I am also listing another etching by the same artist.
