ORIGINAL Florence Knoll 3-seat sofa. I just want to emphasize this is not a knock off, reproduction, or "in the style" of Florence Knoll, Eames, Saarinen, McCobb, etc. This is an original sofa manufactured by Knoll in 1966 with the original Knoll tag attached.
This series was designed by Florence Knoll and first was released in 1954. Almost instantly the pieces in this line were recognized by architects and interior designers as design classics, and made their way into the offices and reception areas of America's top corporations and universities, as well as private homes. Many variations of these pieces were produced with different seating choices, finishes, and fabrics. This particular piece is the 3-seat sofa without arms, arguably the most sleek of the series. The legs are solid steel with chrome finish and the fabric is dark gray weave, probably wool and/or cotton. I purchased this particular sofa because the dark gray fabric is timeless and goes with just about any color scheme. The cushions are welted and buttonless. Approximate dimensions are 91" wide, 33" deep and 32" tall. I had the original foam completely replaced a couple years ago. The old foam was removed from each cushion, replaced with new high-quality high-density foam, and carefully sewn back into place with the original fabric undamaged. The fabric is in excellent condition with no significant tears, rips, or fading. The chromed steel base is in very good condition. There are a few small areas of flaking/spotting but very little. The bottom center cushion has a little "dent" from being sat on but this is fixable if you want it to be perfect. I have tried to make this dent obvious in the photo. It is almost impossible to find a Florence Knoll sofa in this good original condition, especially with new foam and original fabric. This is truly a showcase piece that you will be proud to have in your home or office. Knoll is selling several variations of this sofa today in the $10,000 range. I have about $3,000 invested in this piece and have owned it for over 10 years. I hate to part with this piece but need to sell it for financial reasons, so the starting bid will be $1700 with no reserve. I am a 12-year eBay veteran with over 200 transactions, and I have never received even one negative feedback. Because this item is big and heavy it is available for local pickup only in the San Francisco Bay Area. PayPal only please. If you have any questions please e-mail me before bidding. Thank you and good luck.
