Women of the War; Their Heroism and Self-Sacrifice Frank Moore 1866, Hartford S.S. Scranton The object of this book is to gather and present and honor the women who gave aid and comfort to soldiers of the America's Civil War. The stories of over 40 women from the North who followed the men to the battlefields as aides, nurses, actual fighters, etc., some of whom spent time in Confederate prisons. The author does not spare the graphic, bloody imagery in his stories about female heroism and sacrifice during the Civil War. Many high-quality steel engravings of heroines.
