Offered for auction is a page of original John Buscemaart from one of the most famous series in the history of Marvel comics: theincredible 18 issues of Silver Surfer all penciled by Mr. Buscema. Buscema was one of the greatest artists ever to work in the comics illustration field and his work on these Silver Surfer issues is considered to be some of his finest. This page is the original art of page 3 from issue #9 (Oct. 1969), and shows the Surfer battling the Flying Dutchman. It is 10.875 (ten and seven eighths) inches by 15.75 inches and is in excellent condition, showing minor erase marks and blue pencil, as is typical of comics art pages of the period. It also has the Comics Magazine Code Authority stamp on the back. You'll be proud to own such an important piece of comics history.
Some questions have been asked regarding whether the two taped areas shown in the photo are repairs to the page. They are paste-up tape from a word balloon change (panel 1), and the taped "Continued After Next Page" word strip (bottom). The tape photographs a bit darker than it actually is. To support the word balloon change, a piece of masking tape was added to the back of the page, presumably by the Marvel production department. Please see added photos.
