Original John Stark Revolutionary War Engraving JOHN STARK Original 1862 engraving of Revolutionary War General John Stark, hand colored with facsimile signature. This 144 year old engraving features General Stark standing in his full Revolutionary War Uniform. In very good condition, overall size 10" X 8". Engraving is dated in lower margin area. John Stark (1728-1822) American Revolutionary officer born Londonderry, NH. Served in French and Indian War (1754-59); engaged at Bunker Hill (1775), in Canadian expedition (1776) at Trenton and Princeton; resigned commission (Mar. 1777); commissioned brigadier general of New Hampshire troops to aid Vermont in resisting Burgoyne; won battle of Bennington (Aug. 16, 1777); brigadier general in Continental army (Oct. 1777); commanded Northern Department; served in Rhode Island (1779) and at Battle of Springfield, NJ (1780); member of court-martial that condemned Major Andre; brevetted major general (1783).
