Original Kawase Hasui 1926 Shin Hanga Japanese Wood block Print Offered in this eBay auction is a fine, rare first edition example of the work of the great Shin Hanga artist, Kawase Hasui (1893-1957). As described by the Hanga Gallery: " Known for his exquisite landscape prints, Kawase Hasui was one of the most prolific and talented shin hanga artists of the early 20th century. He designed around six hundred prints total, mainly for the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo, although he also worked for several others briefly." This print is a first edition from 1926, with the rarely seen Watanabe "A" seal (see the excellent article at Ukiyo-e Gallery for details of Watanabe publisher seals and the dating of Hasui prints). The title of this print is "Asakusa Kannon in the Snow". It is an excellent impression with very good color in good condition (some discoloration around margins from an earlier mounting). It retains full margins, and displays the rare, Watanabe "A" seal, indicating an early, first edition . It has been professionally framed in museum quality mounts.
