*Largest Lion Brothers collection I have ever listed, andprobably my last, will be auto-listed over the next week. This is my nephew's COMPLETE COLLECTION and I think the last Lions I will have to list from my family. Includes space, and by request, remaining Olympics, sports, military, boy scout, advertising, etc. * This auction is for an Original Lion Brothers Apollo / Soyuz Crew 4" all cloth uncoated embriodered patch. Produced only at the time of the Apollo / Soyuz mission. It is 33 years old and is in perfect condition. It never left the Lion Brothers plant! It is vintage. Not a new, reproduction, souvenir, AB, KSC, commemorative, anniversary or museum patch. It is the Real Deal, made for the Apollo astronauts, mission specialists, and some primary contractors. If you are a collector of quality original U.S. space artifacts, please read on. My aunt Gertrude was a designer at Lion Brothers Company, Inc. for over thirty years from 1942 to 1973. She went to work after the men of the family went off to fight in the war. Lion Brothers was a NASA and contractor emblem provider during the 1960's and 1970's. She designed, stitch by stitch, ALL of the Lion Brothers embroidered space mission patches (Apollo, Skylab, ASTP Apollo Soyuz Test Project) produced before 1974 directly from the artwork submitted by NASA. Once her initial proofs were accepted by Lion management and NASA, the patch went into production. I saved these original Apollo Program mission patches made from those proofs. They are all over 30 years old. My aunt always brought me several from each mission since I was completely into the space program and she was very proud of her work. I had samples of all of the space mission patches that Lion Brothers provided to NASA and I gave most of them to a couple of my nephews many years ago. They have now given them back to me to sell on ebay. These patches never left the Lion Brothers plant, and I have managed to keep them mint, crispy and perfect. Of course, they have the Lion Brothers hallmarks. In the photos you will also see my aunt's ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) Local 239 card and her Lion Brothers Company, Inc. Signature Identification card for source authentication. I'm sure it also helps that we have the same last name. I will include a photo-quality copy of these cards to the winners of the auctions. (Always, ALWAYS ask for authentication!! You are entitled. If you are paying THE REAL PRICE make sure you are buying THE REAL THING!) Please SUPERSIZE the PHOTOS to see the detail and quality of these original mission patches. I apologize for the lack of focus in the closeups of the Lion Brothers hallmarks. My scanner does not do the greatest with them. But the hallmarks are clearly evident (t were no hallmarks for Apollos 7 through 11). Although my scans do not do justice to these patches, please compare them to others you see on the web. The differences in detail, artwork, and construction are obvious. These pampered Lion Brothers originals are all truly exquisite. I would like to see these relics in the hands of someone who appreciates their significance and history. My reserve is set at a very reasonable price for this outstanding article of our Apollo lunar mission legacy. I will be happy to answer any questions.
