This no reserve auction is for a nice matching set of original Lionel 605, 605 and 606 Passenger Cars in their original boxes. These gray cars feature the New York Central road name above the windows. They are the type A variation. These cars date to circa 1925 or 1926. The paint on these cars is completely original with no touch up. They are not perfect but they show much less wear than normal in my opinion. The platform on the Observation sports a very unusual brass medallion with the letters MC on it. It is wired to the platform. I do not know the significance of the unusual medallion. I tested the bulbs and all light except one of Pullmans. I suspect it just needs a bulb change since the wiring looks good on all 3 cars. There is one 1/2" scratch on one side of the Observation and one of the Pullman cars. Otherwise just some minor chipping. Some of the couplers show a little rust as is common. One coupler on one Pullman comes loose easily - a minor fix. Each piece carries the original type 2 oil label as well all air tanks, brass steps, maroon doors and mottled blue window shade material on each side. Thesepieces have been well protected for the past 80+ years by their original boxes which are essentially just sleeves at this point. Please see the photos for additional descriptive detail. All items are carefully packed and typically shipped via USPS priority mail, first class or parcel post within 3 business days after payment clears. I reserve the right to select the shipping method at my discretion.
