This no reserve auction is for a vintage and rare Lionel 982 Suburban Split Level Set in its original box. Lionel only produced this piece in 1960. According to Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, 1945 - 1969, Volume VI: Accessories by Alan Stewart, the 982 Suburban Split Level Set came with 18 pieces, including a multi-piece house, sections of ranch fence, automobile, people and several pine trees in a Type II box with an undated 982-10 instruction sheet. The primary value for this rare accessory is the oversized fragile box with Lionel markings. The contents are very common parts manufactured under the Plasticville name by Bachman Brothers and are readily available very cheaply today. This particular package looks to be complete with the exception of a couple of pine trees. The ranch fence sections are still sealed in clear plastic. This box was held closed by small strips of tape at one point and there is some tape residue present. There is some typical corner stress and tape reinforcement on the inside. The 982-10 instruction sheet is original. Please see the photos for additional descriptive detail. Please also check out my other listings for Plasticville items in Lionel boxes including a 967 Post Office Set and 983 Farm Set that ends within a few minutes of this auction. Buyer pays $8.75 for S&H. I will gladly refund excess postage if the amount listed is $1.00 or more above the actual postage cost. If you would be interested in selling or consigning all or pieces of your collection please feel free to contact me to discuss. I have been a member of the TCA for more than 20 years so you can . I am in the process of thinning out a lifetime train collection that started in the early 1970’s. It includes many rare and unusual items most of which are very high quality in original packaging. Some examples are a boxed 460P Piggyback Platform, boxed 3356-150 Horse Corral Platform, dealer and factory sealed items, as well as many pre and post war boxed sets. Most of my collection is Lionel with some Ives, American Flyer and other manufacturers represented. I do not have a collection list to share at this time. When practical, multiple items may be sent together to save on shipping costs. All items are carefully packed and typically shipped via UPS Ground (large packages) or USPS first class or priority mail (small packages and envelopes) within 3 business days after payment clears. I reserve the right to choose the delivery method, whether that be UPS, USPS Priority Mail, First Class or Parcel Post at my discretion. Shipping is not a profit center for me so if I overestimate the cost I will gladly refund the difference of any full dollar amounts. Payment via Paypal is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements have been made. eBay rules require you to inquire about alternative payment methods. TCA member are given special consideration. I am willing to work with buyers on any reasonable request. My objective is for both of us to have a positive experience. Questions during the auction are encouraged as returns will be accepted only if the item is not as described. Your inquiries are very important to me and I will make best efforts to be prompt and thorough with my responses. However, because train collecting and eBay are not my primary business my ability to continuously monitor and quickly respond to eBay related communications may be limited. Kindly allow for a reasonable response time to your questions. Alternatively, please feel free to call me at – ask for Pete. I appreciate your interest in my listings.
