This no reserve auction is for an original Lionel empty box for Joe, The Motorists' Friend promotional outfit number 19177 that was manufactured in 1962 only. Only 100 of this set were ordered. This no. 61-250 Orange RSC with black graphics outfit box was manufactured by Kraft Corrugated Containers and measures 13" X 12” X 7”. It protected the set that was comprised of the following action packed components: 2037 Steam Locomotive, 234W Tender, 3362 Helium Tank Unloading Car, 6416 Boat Transport Car, 6822 Illuminated Searchlight Car, 3545 Operating TV Monitor Car, 6437 Illuminated Cupola Caboose, 1063 75-watt Transformer, 310 Billboards, track and peripherals. Please refer to pages 520-521 of the Authoritative Guide to Lionel's Promotional Outfits, 1960 - 1969 by John W. Schmid for more information about this set. Again, this auction is for the empty set box only. This box shows some shelf wear yet remains reasonably square and strong. All flaps are present and complete. Three of the top flaps have kraft tape on them. There are a few bumps and bruises from shelf wear. The bottom flaps show some delamination on one end due to exposure to dampness.
