ORIGINAL M C LILLEY & CO COLUMBUS OHIO MASONIC SWORD, THE MARKS ARE CORRECT FOR 1877, THE DATE ENGRAVED ON THE SCABBARD.THE ORIGINAL OWNER WASCOL. SAMUEL HUBER OF FAIRFIELD OHIO. SCABBARD ETCHED "SAM HUBER COL. 11 REG O.N.G. 1877" A FLAG AND SNAKE ETCHED BELOW. (ONG) MEANS OHIO NATIONAL GUARD.THE BLADE IS IN GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION, WITH NO NICKS, BUT SOME SPOTS ON THE 30" BLADE, ETCHED WITH EAGLE AND FLAG ON ONE SIDE AND "U.S." ON THE OTHER. THE GRIP IS VERY GOOD SKARK SKIN IN FADED MAUVE, THE POMMEL AND HILT ARE GILT BRONZE, WITH EAGLE AND FLAG DECOR, AND FINISH IS VERY GOOD. THE THE SCABBARD HAS 2 RINGS AND THE BOTTOM OF THE SCABBARD SOME NICE FLAG DRAPED DECOR, VERY LTTLE DENTS, AND PITTING. SAM HUBER WAS BORN IN FAIRFIELD OHIO OCT 13 1837, AND WAS 25 YRS AT THE TIME THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN, HE WAS A PHARMACIST OF RENOWN IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY OHIO, AND AN HONORABLE MASON, HIS MASONIC SWORD IS OFFERED FOR SALE, HIS M1840 CIVIL WAR SABER IN ANOTHER LISTING.PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS, THESE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER IN THE SAME FAMILY FOR MANY YEARS.
