An attractive pot lid made by the Pratt factory. The picture is taken from a watercolour by Austin, and shows a battle enactment on a table. The battle in question was between the British and French at Aboukir in 1789, during which the French fleet was destroyed. The scene is observed by a couple at a window and an African man. One of the men at the table has wooden legs, suggesting he has personally been involved in past conflicts. In the distance is a sailing ship. In the front of the picture is a cockerel and an angry dog - perhaps symbolic of the battle. The lid is of medium size, measuring approximately 10.5 cm in diameter. It has warm, bright colours and clear detail, and bears a title. The border is obscured by the frame. This wooden frame is of dark varnished wood and is of good quality. The lid is in very good condition for its age. Please excuse glare on photos. I am happy to answer questions by email. Payment is by PayPal, and I will pack with care and post promptly. Postage is as follows: UK £3.20, Europe £5.15, Worldwide £7.90.
