ORIGINAL BY ROBERT CHATELAINE PIN DESCRIPTION: We’re offering for auction a dramatic chatelaine-styled brooch / pin signed “Original by Robert” inside an oval cartouche. Based upon its mark and unique style, we believe this Robert pin is from the late 1960’s or 1970's. Robert designed for Miriam Haskell in the 1940’s and early 1950’s, when he left Miriam Haskell to open his costume jewelry manufacturing company, “Originals by Robert”. Early Originals by Robert designs were similar to Robert’s designs at Miriam Haskell. Robert’s designs soon included large, colorful enameled fruit and floral pieces as well as unique rhinestone styles. Originals by Robert pieces are well-known for their bold designs and highly sought after. This pretty brooch has two inverted, teardrop-shaped black glass pieces with antique gold-toned plate rimming each glass piece. A third domed, inverted teardrop-shaped black glass piece dangles from the two rimmed glass pieces. Dangling from beneath the domed glass piece are four square link chains. This pin also has three petite, round black glass dentelle rhinestones and one facetted, inverted, black glass teardrop rhinestone in scroll work above the two largest black glass pieces. This well-made brooch is 3 ⅝ inches long and 1 ⅝ inches wide. It is in extremely good condition, with no wear or discoloration to read more
