LOT 3201Seller's Estimate: USD 500 - 750Details: This scare original hand-colored engraved map of London, England was made by Vincenzo Maria Coronelli in Venice circa 1685. The full title is "Londra Dedicata All'Illustrissimo S. Nicolao Cornaro Figliuolo dell'Eccellentissimo Sigr. Proc.re Francesco" (Howgego 37). Only the London Bridge is shown crossing the Thames in this Restoration Period plan. The scale is four inches to one statute mile. The engraving includes the arms of the City of London at left and the Royal Standard at right. Below the title is a dedication to Nicolao Cornaro, a prominent Venetian aristocrat. The coat of arms depicted is likely Cornaro's. The map, whose plate size is approx. 10"x16", is presented in a handsome gilt wood frame measuring approx. 24"x18" overall. Provenance: K.C. Parsons Research Library (former Dean of Cornell University's College of Art, Architecture, and Planning).Condition / Notes: The map shows beautifully.
