Offering is for an Original signed painting by Shozo Nagano. Painting was done in acrylic on canvas and attached to board. Painting centers on this realism semi-nude "Woman in Red" (we believe this to be the title), display of beautiful folds. Painting needs no frame - as you can see, the woman's head and foot are continued off the canvas. Beautifully done! Some of Shozo Nagano's works had been auctioned at Christies East in the 70's and 80's. Courtesy information about Shozo Nagano: Japanese-American painter Shozo Nagano was born in Kanazawa, Japan around 1950, and studied at Kanazawa FA University, ASL in New York with Julian Levi, and Pratt Institute. He creates his striking shaped canvases by tracing his full-sized sketches onto canvas, then cutting and stretching the canvas on elaborate hand-crafted wooden stretchers to give his pieces a dramatic illusion of depth. Although he has lived and worked in America for many years, he maintains close contact with Japan, and is a past president of the Japanese-American ArtistÃ,Â's Society in New York. He is in many collections including the Steve Martin Collection, Arts of Asia, NYC, the Allentown Museum, the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, the Citicorp Collection in NYC and the State University of New York in Albany. He has had many prestigious exhibitions both in America and Japan, and has been reviewed by all leading art publications including Art International, Art News, Arts Magazine, Art Speak and the NY Times.
