From my airship collection this is the quite rare silver medal commemorating the flight of the BREMEN which was the first to fly from Europe to North America. This made in Germany silver medal is 36mm struck in high relief and larger than the bronze or brass version. Flown from Germany the pilots von Hunefeld and Hermann Kohl flew the first leg of the journey to Baldonnel, Ireland airodrome. There they continued the flight with new pilot James C. Fitzmaurice and the 3 continued to Greenly Island off the coast of Canada. They missed their original destination of New York, but did succeed in being the first to cross from Europe to America. The two German pilots are depicted on the medal, but not the Irishman. Edge is lettered BAYER HAUPTMUNZAMT.SILBER 900 f. A rare silver historic medal. I managed to collect 2 of these over the years and this is my last one. See the scans. Buyer to add $3 for insured shipping .Shipping reduced for multiple wins.
