Greetings, This SOG knife was on last week and it sold for $1,302.00. Unfortunately the winning bidder stated an early Canadian winter storm rolled through and sustained damage to his house. So, since he will need funds to repair his house the SOG knife is up again. I am again listing it with a low "Buy It Now" price as I did the last time. As you know, once the reserve is met the "Buy It Now" goes away and the price continues up and you lost your chance to buy it low. Good Luck Bidding! As you can see from the pictures, up for auction is a super example of a rare and seldom available SOG Fighting Knife with plum blade. A fine collection of SOG knife pictures can be seen in Mike Silvey's book KNIVES of the United States Military in VIETNAM on pages 6 through 33. The plum blade length is 6 inches; t are no serial numbers or presentation wording on the blade. Fighting Knives magazine dated Fall 1991 has an article written by Ben Baker the designer of not only the SOG Recon, but the 5th Special Forces Group knife as well states "as a note, the unique plum-colored oxidation seen on various knives came about because the dark blueing attained by some makers required a longer, hotter dip, which ruined blade temper.
