This fair condition original WWII Type 30 Arisaka Rifle Bayonet was made by an unknown manufacturer under Nagoya Arsenal supervision. This bayonet is a JB variation B with a blued blade, straight crossguard, birds head pommel and contoured grips. This arsenal marking is difficult to find in any condition as it was made in much smaller numbers than other private Japanese manufacturers. The metal of the pommel and crossguard have been wire brushed - cleaned in the white but heavy pitting and some rust remains. T is a serial number on the back end of the pommel 38942. The bayonet catch mechanism works properly The 15 5/8 inch blade is in good condition with most of the bluing remaining. T is slight rust and light pitting showing in several areas. The ricasso is marked with the markings of the Nagoya Arsenal and a Diamond Logo of the unknown manufacturer. The forward half of the sharp edge of the blade has been sharpened as is usual with Japanese bayonets. The wood grips held by two screwbolts in eliptical shaped washers and nuts are in solid - fair condition with many grooves and marks from use. The bayonet catch mechanism works properly.
