Original Unpublished Manuscript of The Half Gainer by Mildred Wirt Benson, who wrote many of the Nancy Drew Mysteries. This (13) page short story, singled sided, and doubled spaced on letter size paper, was purchased at auction at the Nancy Drew Conference at the University of Iowa in 1993. Ms. Wirt was in attendance and personally signed the title page of the story. This is the ORIGINAL story and there are NO copies of it. It has been part of my collection since 1993. To protect the integrity of the work I have only taken a photograph of the title page. This scarce work by Ms. Wirt, was never submitted to a publisher, to my knowledge. The story centers around Dorothy Davenport and her dog, Wags. Dot is working “hard” to make her high school diving team, but continually gets side tracked by Wags. The manuscript is in beautiful condition with the exception of page 12, which has a 2” vertical closed tear at the top. A beautiful example of a scarce, one of a kind, piece of Nancy Drew / Mildred Wirt collectible. Buyer pays $4 shipping and handling in the U.S.
