Up for auction is this related collection of all original Militaria from one long time career Naval Officer who served aboard the famous USS Texas Battleship from 1928 through World War II during a long U.S. Navy career. It is not often that so many related items are found together with Provenance. The Texas was one of the first US Dreadnoughts, launched in 1914, and presently functions as a Museum at La Porte, near Houston, Texas. This battleship was 573 feet long , displaced 27,000 tons and carried ten 14” naval guns with a complement of 1048 crewmen at commissioning in 1914. It was the largest battleship in the US Navy at the time. These items were preserved by the Officer’s step daughter. It is time to part with these and s he wishes these artifacts be kept together as a lot for an appreciative collector of Naval Militaria. By way of provenance, everything in this lot belonged to the same veteran. All original. This lot consists of Seven Medals from 1928 to the Korean UN Action. One medal, the oldest is inscribed on its back with the Sailor’s name, the date of 1928, and “USS Texas”. On its ribbon are three brass service bars dated 1932, 1936, and 1939.
