Lot Of Seven Original Antique Vanity Fair Lithographs 1877-1900 Portraits of Victorian Sportsmen Approximate Sizes- 10 1/2" x 15" e Vanity Fair was a society paper published in England from 1869 to 1914, and is unrelated to the later American magazine of the same name. It featured articles about the royal family, fashions of the day, and the weekly news, but the highlight of each issue was a color caricature of a well-known person. This is an unusual opportunity to purchase a select lot of seven of these original antique chromo-lithographs at an incredible price. The portraits in this lot include three scull rowers, two jockeys, and a lightweight boxer: George Fordham (above), William Dudley Ward, Lord Ampthill, the Marquess of Queensberry, Charles Murray Pitman, and G.A. Baird. (See Photos Below). The normal retail prices for these prints range from $35 to $140 PER PIECE . They are not matted and their average condition is Fine/Very Fine. All are suitable for framing, and three come with the page of biographical text from the magazine. Note that the print of George Fordham is a proof version without type. Emporio Leopardo's eBay store currently has a large and growing collection of original Vanity Fair lithographs at discounted prices, including some that are particularly rare and hard to find.
