Up for bid is a very neat original Vietnam War 1st Marine Division, 7th Marines grouping. The grouping features a captured Viet Cong belt and buckle that was taken off of a dead enemy soldier killed in the Pagoda Valley on January 25th, 1970. The Marine had one of his buddies photograph him holding up the dead VC soldier whom he has just killed and taken the belt from as a souvenir. The grouping has eleven original photos plus a first Marine division patch. The photos are of soldiers trudging through rice patties, artillery pieces, helicopters, a village, and photos of the Que-Son mountains Southwest of Da Nang. The soldier has written a letter talking about the belt and pictures. He was a machine gunner with Co. H, 7th Marines. The photos are all originals and many are dated 1970. The Viet Cong belt is dated 1965. This is an amazing "Battle" grouping and the first original photo I have seen of a gung-ho Marine proudly displaying his kill.
