A very rare British-made Mackinaw coat in incredible, museum condition. The garment is marked size 36", but this particular coat is a very generous cut, designed as it was to go over multiple layers and so it is is more like a contemporary size 40", but please be advised by the garment measurements below - This is quite likely the best example of a British Mackinaw you will find currently and the only issue that prevented me from listing this as 'mint', is the one replacement button to the top neck closure. The khaki cotton-drill shell is faultless, with one or two minor storage stains but otherwise it retains the deep curry colour it had the day it was made. The melton wool lining is similarly faultless, with absolutely no moth holes. The British-made Mackinaw is generally regarded as superior to its US Army counterpart, usually comprising better materials and being better cut, made and finished and this coat typifies that perception.
