I am selling off my collection of Vintage DAVID KLEIN TWA lithographic posters. This auction is for LONDON FLY TWA 40" x 25" Imprinted #1065 Litho in U.S.A. FAIR condition I GRADE VERY STRICTLY in 6 grades: MINT (in my opinion impossible in a poster 40+ years old), NEAR MINT, VERY GOOD, GOOD, FAIR and POOR. Details can be found at the bottom of this description. In particular this one has some yellowing/browning of the poster stock in the upper 7" of the print; some (water) stains around the TWA line; a round yellowish stain approximately 2" in diameter below the TWA line and some tearing of the poster edge approximately 16" long on the upper right hand side. I tried to capture all of these flaws in the pictures. I also attempt to be as detailed as possible, but one collector's stain is another art lover's mark of authenticity. Tfore I do allow for returns, if I am severely off. This poster will benefit from restoration and any such posters you see on Vintage Poster sites or in shops have likely been professionally restored and backed on linen. This is a chance to snap up a rare vintage poster for a bargain price which you may either enjoy as is or have restored to its original condition. It is my opinion that this poster would look great framed as is. This is an original. Do not be fooled by the many (often smaller) reprints. These posters have been designed by world-renowned American illustrator David Klein. David Klein is best known for his influential work in the field of travel advertising. During the 1950s and 1960s, David Klein designed and illustrated dozens of posters for Howard Hughes’ Trans World Airlines (TWA). David’s use of bright colors depicting famous landmarks in an abstract style defined the state of poster art of the period. In 1957 a TWA poster of New York City became part of the permanent collection of the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. These works are much imitated and to this day define the excitement and enthusiasm of the early years of post-war air travel. They defined the Jet Set style and have become iconic. David won numerous awards for Excellence from the Society of Illustrators for his TWA work, including his Philadelphia, Boston, Switzerland, and Africa poster art. David won many other awards during the 1960s for his TWA work (his Los Angeles, Rome and Paris Posters in particular) from travel, advertising, and illustration and design organizations. Please review the item’s pictures and ask questions prior to the end of the auction. Also, please do look around and check other listings for this type of poster. I do not believe you will find others in similar condition for a more competitive price. Especially you might want to review the latest prices paid for this poster in a November 2008 auction, the catalog of which you would find on . Shipping is $9 for the US and $20 international. PAYPAL only please. I will consider any reasonable payment arrangement if you have the feedback to earn it. BUT YOU MUST ASK BEFORE YOU BUY! Please email with questions! And THANKS for looking! MINT - A poster in MINT condition looks like it just came off of the press. It will have no blemishes or defects of any kind. It can be machine folded or rolled, depending on the manner in which it was originally. A poster in MINT condition commands top dollar in that title's normal price range. NEAR MINT - A poster in NEAR MINT condition may have minor blemishes in the border only. The artwork is in excellent condition with no blemishes whatsoever. A poster in NEAR MINT condition commands slightly less than one in MINT condition. VERY GOOD - A poster in VERY GOOD condition may have blemishes in the border and up to approximately one inch of the poster's artwork. T may be small tears in the artwork along the fold lines only.
