This is an original, 19 th century vintage lithograph from the Les Maītres de l'Affiche collection.Les Maītres de l'Affiche (The Masters Of The Poster) is a collection of 256 small-size posters produced by Imprimerie Chaix in Paris from 1895 to 1900. The posters were sold to collectors on a subscription basis, with subscribers receiving new "issues" every few months, each issue containing several lithographs. 97 artists are represented in the collection.This item is plate 41, entitled Pantomimes Lumineuses, by the French artist Jules Chéret. It was produced as part of issue 11 in 1896. The image advertises the Pantomimes Of Light show at the Musée Grévin venue in Paris. Embossed Imprimerie Chaix chop in lower right. Size = 15-3/4 x 11-3/8 inches.Jules Chéret is the most popular and prolific artist in the collection with 67 of the 256 plates. Probably no other artist better represents the spirit and esthetic of the Belle Epoque. He also was the first major poster artist to draw directly on lithographic stone.Beautiful condition, clean image, bold and vibrant colors. Ships unframed.
