"Draped" Midi-Sylph #373 This is an original painting by Scott Rockwell. It measures 5" x 7" , and was created with colored pencils and watercolor paints (including dyes, markers, and inks, in addition to the more traditional watercolors) on Arches watercolor paper. The painting is unframed, and it is signed by the artist. The full painting is shown first at 200%, followed by close-up scans shown for detail. This absolute beauty is the only painting we'll be listing tonight -- unfortunately, Scott got a migraine before he could finish the other Midi-Sylph painting he was working on. He'll finish it later this week, and we'll list it on Saturday night, along with anything else he may paint before then. It's a simple case of stress -- we had to take the kittens to be spayed/neutered yesterday, and even though we know it's rare, we once lost a kitten to anesthesia, and it only takes one bad experience to make a person worry their head off (almost literally, in Scott's case) the next time a new kitten has to go through it. Luckily, both Miike and Mothra are fine -- they were running around and continuing their home-destruction duties within hours -- but Scott's migraine pounced almost as soon as we picked them up. Stress is the biggest cause of migraines, so I don't think he could have avoided this one, no matter how much I reassured him that the kittens would be okay (especially since I was worried, too, and after 27 years, I can't really hide anything from Scott!!). He'll be back to painting again soon -- at least it's good to see that his love of painting folds of cloth hasn't suffered!! :-) About the Artist: Scott Rockwell is a 57-year old artist, the father of three insane cats, and my best friend. He studied art and art history at West Liberty University, where he graduated with honors in 1981. Since then, he’s had a variety of jobs in the commercial art and advertising fields, including a position as Art Director for the local NBC affiliate, where his portraits of the news anchors still grace the walls. He did a lot of work in the comics industry for more than 20 years -- including the hand-painted color for countless comic books for Disney and dozens of others -- but his real love has always been painting!! Over the past 35 years, he’s painted a huge volume of portraits, including people, pets, and quite a few self-portraits (he calls it the best way to practice). His early artwork was mainly surrealistic, and although he still ventures into surrealism now and then, he mainly paints faces and nudes these days -- so that's usually what you'll find listed here!! All of the paintings sold on eBay are original, one-of-a-kind works of art -- they are not prints, and though I've asked him to make prints of his paintings from time to time, he always refuses. My name is Faye Perozich, and I write the descriptions for most of the listings (as well as doing most of the communicating and packing), but Scott is indeed a "self-representing artist" -- the paintings come straight from his studio/bedroom. I'm not his agent or anything -- Scott has Asperger's Syndrome (a form of high-functioning autism), so I just do the stuff he doesn't like to do... that way, he can be free to do what he does like to do -- paint!!
