This auction is for a very rare, two sided original piece of art by Sir Matthew Smith. The front is a watercolor of red flowers in a vase. The back is a pen drawing done by Smith, shortly before his death. This piece measures 14 1/2" x 10 1/2". Both pictures are signed.
Our client inherited this and three other Smith original pieces from his mother. She was a personal friend of Mary Keene, Smith's model and companion. We will provide a letter to this effect from our client to the winner of this auction.
Sir Matthew Arnold Bracy Smith (22 October 1879 -1959) was an English painter. The largest and most varied series of his works was inspired by Mary Keene, nee Hunt (1921-1981), who remained close to him until his death. She wrote a novel, Mrs Donald (1983), in which the love affair was partly drawn from her relationship with Smith.
Insurance is required and will be added to the invoice once final value is determined.

Payment Options

Insurance on all domestic items shipped via USPS is required, since we cannot be responsible for loss or damages in transit.

You must contact us within 3 business days from receipt of goods if you wish to return an item. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
