ORIGINAL WIRE PHOTO CHICAGO WHITE SOX AL SMITH GETS BEER BATH WORLD SERIES 1959

One of the more unusual, and famous World Series photos, here outfielder Smith goes to wall during Game 2, Oct 3rd at Comiskey Park, watching Charlie Neal's home run go into the stands, only to get a beer dunked on him by an excited fan. We have been given an amazing collection
of about 1,000 original vintage and true antique sports photographs on consignment.
The subject matter is mostly baseball with some nice boxing thrown in.

These are almost all 1st Generation Type One photographs.

A large portion of these are UPI wire and Press Photos
put together by somebody working in a United Press International New York area office. He focused primarily on the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Yankees and Giants, but there is a good assortment of stars from other teams as well. These date from the early 1940s to 1960, with a few earlier.
All of these are from the same day of release,
most have dated captions attached on reverse.
There are also many Acme News Photos.

Most have reverse stamp of news agency. Many have attached captions. There are also a large number missing their captions. When we can ID these that are missing their captions we will list them. Eventually we'll sell a lot of the hard to ID photos in groups.

Condition varies, some are sharp and clean,
some show a good amount of wear,
most will fall between the two.

We'll be selling these both individually and in groups.

In addition, there are many candid snapshots
of ballplayers and stadiums
including cabinet photographs and Real Photo Post Cards
going back to the early 1900s.

We want to list this entire group
within the next several weeks,
so you will want to put us on your
Favorite Seller List as we will be posting
more every couple of days, on 3 to 7 day auctions.

Shipping is $5 for the first photo purchased,
.50 Cents for each additional photo purchased the same day.
International shipping is $15 for first purchase,
.50 cents each additional purchased same day.
