A real nice find This sword has been sitting in a closet for the last 60+ years. The lady that I bought this from said that her uncle brought this home from the South Pacific during World War II. It measures approximately 39 inches in length. I would say it is in excellent preserved condition. The blade itself has some minor nicks on the sharp edge. Some of the blade looks kind of grayish. T is the slightest bit of oxidation, nothing that I believe would be of much concern. The scabbard is in nice condition with only having a few minor dents. The fittings on the scabbard are in excellent condition, having a nice patina. It still retains its original paint. The handle is extremely nice. I really don't see anything wrong with it. The tassle is in very nice condition with some fraying on the blue side. The brown and blue side of the tassle is in excellent condition. The tang is marked with six engraved symbols on one side and two symbols on the other side. All the fittings, as well as the end of the handle that fits by the blade, is marked with the same three symbols, as shown in the picture. T is a little space as shown in the picture between the large fitting and the handle. I think that it would close completely if a little pressure were used. I just didn't want to get it closed and then not be able to release it for examination.
