You are bidding on an original WW1 1917 dated USMC dress blue uniform. To be specific the trousers are dated 1917, the jacket is dated 1919-20 and the hat is dated 1917. Overall condition is very good, couple of small nips to the trousers which are faintly ink stamped with size and 1917 dated. Jacket is nice condition and fairly clean with no holes. All the buttons appear original to the jacket and are marked "J.C.L. Shabeck, Providence, RI." on the reverse. Ink stamp on the interior white material of the jacket inside the sleeve that reads "2M Quartermaster's Dept., U.S. Marine Corps, 1919-1920". No collar discs, they were removed some time ago. Hat is in overall very good condition and is dated 1917 on the interior with the guy's name. Nice wicker interior stiffener. A moth nip on each side and a couple of small ones behind the leather visor strap. Top is clean and no holes. Slight flaking on the visor rim but nothing too serious in my opinion. Comes with white dress gloves and a black belt that was with the uniform, I thought even with WW1 uniforms it was supposed to be a white belt but this is the one that was with the uniform when I acauired it from an old WW1 collection. Nice and rare addition to your WW1 collection. Reasonable reserve, I have seen what the hats alone can go for and believe I am being very fair with the reserve. read more
