This is a very scarce find brought back by a WW2 vet. This is a well used original German WW2 mapcase dated 1939 (as best as I can tell) and unit marked 1/GJR38 I. I think this is either 1st Kompanie Gebirgs Jager Regiment 38 or 1st Kompanie Grenadier Inf. Regt. 38. The maker stamping is clearly stamped above the unit stamping, however I can not make it out and the best I can discern is the date 1939. The gem of the whole deal are the 7 maps that came in the case. These 7 maps are all dated 1936 and are of locations in France and Belgium (unsure if this case pertains to the 1939 invasion of France or the later Normandy/Ardennes period in 1944). The maps are all German (some marked upon) and are titled St. Valery-Yvetot, Metz, Paris, Monschau, Amiens, Saargemund and Sonderausgabe which is a large relief area of France. The map titled St. Valery-Yvetot shows the English Channel French port town of Le Havre, Benouville and other notable towns associated with the D-Day invasion. The maps titled Monschau shows the towns of Stavelot, Malmedy, St. Vith, Krinkelt, and other towns associated with the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge). These maps have seen some use. I could go on about the historical significance of these maps and case, but I will let the photos tell all. I accept only money orders, cashiers checks, Bidpay, or we can discuss other options. Very reasonable reserve. Serious bidders please feel free top ask questions and for more photos. Best regards and best of luck.
