A fairly nice enlisted glengarry dark blue wool service cap from WWI-- if I am reading the markings correctly. It is diced with red, white, and blue wool woven dicing, and it has a red turree wool ball. The tails of ribbed black ribbon are fine, but it has a tiny moth hole on the badge side of the cap. The soldier who wore it apparently stitched the back opening together, probably for a "smarter" look. Otherwise, it is in pretty good shape. The badge is original to the cap. The very, very faded white ink markings in it are (as best as I can make out) "S" over "W (Broad Arrow) D" over "1904"-- at least it looks like "1904" to me, in both natural and artificial light, and that was the criteria under which I acquired it, many years ago. I put the question mark in the listing, as I don't have the letter codes for the "WD" markings, so there is a chance I may be wrong about the date. Anyway, it, like everything else that I am disposing of, is priced to sell...Acquired from a dealer at one of the Mid-Atlantic Scottish Games or at a gun show in the 1980s.I am seriously "downsizing" my collection due to medical issues, and I am looking for good homes for these items, some of which I have studied and treasured for more than fifty years. I am gratified to find that many of these items that I acquired for study and research are finding good read more
