This authentic type A-2 flight jacket, was worn by B-17 pilot Lt. Col. Carl Rizer, who flew 26 combat missions in the European campaign. He flew two B-17's in the war, "SWEET 17" and "OUTHOUSE MOUSE", and was a member of the 8th Air Force, 91st Bomber Group. As you can see, the jacket is in outstanding original condition, and no part of the jacket has ever been replaced. The original patina, cuffs, and lining, are in very good condition, with normal wear for the jacket's age. The Talon zipper, snaps and clasps all work well. The original tag in the jacket is missing, so I am not sure of the exact size. I believed it is a 38. Lt. Rizer was 5' 9" tall and 160 lbs when he wore the jacket in the war. This jacket is an original piece of history, and would be a great addition to any World War II collection. Please contact me with any questions, good luck and thanks for looking... I am adding some measurements and additional pictures. The pics show the collar area, and a small 1" tear in the lining, and a 1/4" hole, w a seam in the lining is just coming apart. The measurements were taken with the jacket zipped, and laying flat. Armpit to armpit, across the front - 21 1/2" Armpit to armpit, all the way around the jacket - 43 1/2" Armpit to bottom of waist cuff - 13 1/2" Top of neck in front, down the zipper, to the bottom of jacket - 22" Across the back, between the top of the shoulders - 16 1/2" down the middle of the back, from bottom of the collar to the bottom of the waist cuff - 24"The sleeve measurements are: Top of shoulder to end of cuff - 25" armpit to end of cuff - 18 12/"The neck measures about 17 1/2", when the collar is clasped.
