ORIGINAL WWII GERMAN "CONTINENTAL" MILITARY BOOTS - BLACK LEATHER & GRAY FELTAuction is for a pair of 1944 dated Original German military winter boots. These boots were issued/used before 1945. I believe the boots are between size 10 - 12 US (approximate measures are: 12 1/2" from toe to heel and 4 1/2" wide and are 16" high). There is some moth damage to the felt parts of the boots (see photos) but is not really noticeable except in a few places. The leather itself is still in very good condition and the stitching on the right rear leather is coming loose but again it is hard to notice. The black leather straps are in great condition as well as the metal buckles. The four pull straps are all present and attached inside the boots but some are a little tattered or loose - see photos. The soles of the boots have obvious signs of wear and tear but are still in great condition for the age of the item. On the soles are the markings "Continental" and "Prof.ges.gesch". On the outside leather portion and on the top of the inside portion of the sole of each boot are the markings "44 233 440" that I have no idea what the markings mean (any help out there?).Provenance: My private collection but I do not have any other personal knowledge on the item other than stated above, i.e., on who was the owner, what unit assigned, etc. Finally, remember read more
