Up for bid is a very nice vet bring back German WWII M40 helmet. The helmet is complete and is in very nice condition. The helmet retains almost all of it's original green paint but has some dings, scratches, and expected field wear. The very slight remnants of a single decal can be seen under close inspection. The original nine finger leather liner is complete and pliable but is a bit dry in areas but very solid. A faded ink size stamp can be seen on one of the fingers, but is no longer legible. The liner, liner band, and chinstrap are totally original and have never been monkeyed with. The chinstrap is marked G. Schiele Loberg 1940, and has some slight age crazing but is 100% intact and solid. The rear skirt of the helmet shell is stamped Q6? T4688. I believe that the size is Q66, but it may be Q68. T is some slight surface rust so it is hard to tell for sure (see pics). The surface rust could probably be cleaned off to reveal the size for certain, but I decided to leave the helmet as I found it and let the new owner decide to clean it up or not. The helmet is 100% guaranteed authentic, and is a very nice unmessed with example. Winner to please add $12.00 shipping in the United States. I accept checks, money orders, and paypal.
