This is an auction for an Original WWII Japanese OfficersSamurai Sword with Scabbard and Signed Blade. This sword came directly from an estate of a WWII USMC Vet. The vet served in the 4th Marine Division during WWII. I was told that the vet, took this sword off of Iwo Jima and that the sword was us ed in a banzai charge. It appears that there is blood on the end of the sword (sc rol l down to see pictures at bottom of page). The tang is signed. I was told that this sword dates to either 1943 or 1944 as indicated by the writing. I am unable to read any of the other writing on the tang. All of the serial numbers match on the blade and all of the fittings. The overall condition of this very rare sword is good. The blade measures 27 inches long from tip of the blade to the top of the handle, and the handle measures 10 inches long. The blade is in nice condition, and is still quite sharp. As stated above, it appears that there are blood stains on the tip. The wrapping on the handle is still tight, and the locking mechanism still works. The peg is currently not attached on the handle, but it will be included. The handle stays tightly attached without the peg, so it may not be necessary to be attached.
