This Ornamental Austrian Jewel Casket is in Excellent Condition, c1880. The body of the casket is crafted in brass, ornamented with steel Gothic styled elements and raised on steel bracket feet. The hinges and lid are copper. The casket has two hidden curled tongue lock mechanisms, and one key with the initials Ã,Â"KGÃ,Â" on the bow. The small door opens to reveal the key hole, but the key will not work without pressing a secret button hidden in the ornamental design on the face of the casket. The upper compartment opens by sliding one of the brass lozenges which pops open the top, revealing a small velvet lined space ideal for keeping the key to the lower compartment.
