The pink and yellow roses are beautifully shaded and realistically painted by the master French artist, Golse. The background is a subtle blend of grays fading to softer tones around the edges. The foliage has been beautifully executed in bold shades of green that enhance the overall composition. The squat vase, finished in shades of turquoise, adds further elegance and interest to the piece. This is a rare and unusual beauty marked with the underglaze Plainemaison Mark 1 in green that dates the blank from the 1890's to 1910. The ornate blank measures 13 ½ inches across the widest point. The beautifully scrolled rim is decorated with a border of rich Roman gold that has only the tiniest bit of wear. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or any damages to the painted surfaces. The blank has been pierced for hanging.
