This is a GORGEOUS, EXTREMELY ELABORATE ivory censor - circa 1900.The body, lid and handles are each carved from a single, solid piece of elephant ivory tusk - guaranteed, grain is clearly visible.The body rests on 3 lion-paw feet headed by lion masks, the body on both sides is carved with a Dragon motif, 2 handles, also headed by demon's masks - the lid with a superbly carved Kirin or Foo-lion.

SUPERB detail with rich patina and beautiful grain - artist SIGNED on the bottom of body and lid with Chinese characters. It measures 6" tall by 5" wide.

Condition is EXCELLENT, no losses, damage or repair

This comes from an elderly ladies estate in Tulsa and was passed down to her by her grandparents. She had a house full of wonderful and diverse items as her parents and grandparents were quite wealthy and traveled the world over picking up interesting and valuable items wver they went.
