Up for auction is an original, complete and absolutely flawless Orrefors clear crystal lamp. It is Swedish, and I bought in Vermland Sweden. It came from the foyer of the Arvika Stads (city) Hotel in the town of Arvika, Sweden. The glass is made by the Orrefors factory, absolutely flawless, and I mean flawless. In clear crystal, with an alternating overshot/smooth finish, and with a thin alternating opaque/clear translucent vertical stipe pattern on each of the 5 main glass structures. The leaves are all clear, smooth crystal with an embossed leaf pattern. All of the main 5 glass structures are completely hand blown and crafted. The 16 leaves are likely mold blown and hand finished to get the bend. It is fully funcitional, and has a huge, full sized 8 bulb rosette that can handle 8-100 watt incandesent bulbs placed inside the main bowl at the bottom of the lamp. (see photo). It throws a LOT of light, and I mean a LOT! Fully 800 watts of lighing power. Enough to completely illuminate a large entry foyer or room. It has been professionally rewired, and all 8 of the original nickel/porcelain sockets are in perfect condition and fully working, complete and functional. T are NO ISSUES with the electric, sockets, wiring or functionality of this lamp. Its ready to hang, connect and go!T are 8 large and 8 small clear crystal glass leaves. The large ones are about 14' long and fairly straight, bowing out about 6" in a semi circle from tip to base, The small leaves are about 8" long and highly curved, alomost recurving back to a circle if they were longer. The metal slots on the lamp rod and metal ends that connect the glass leaves to their holders on the lamp are in very good condition and fully functional with no slop, damage or play. The main lamp rod, screw tight holding pieces (to keep each part in place), final and hanger are all in very good condition. The top glass piece slips up to fit flush against the ceiling, hiding the metal rod and hanger. The holder below it screws tight to keep it in place. All the pieces that form the rest of the lamp hold in place in a similar fasion. By the absence of any brass having been used in the manufacture of any of the metal parts, we can fairly accurately date this piece as being placed in the hotel sometime during the war, (1940-44) and I know it stayed t without being moved until I bought it while the hotel was being renovated 4 years ago. I cannot find this exact lamp in any of my Orrefors catelogs, which makes sense as it was custom made for this installation. The catalogs show lesser pieces that were available in production runs and in multiple quantities. You will NOT find another exactly like this one.
