Offering Artisan Orvin Fjare's Davenport Writing Desk. This is a dollhouse miniature. The scale being one inch to the foot. This Davenport Desk is 3 1/8th inches tall, the length is 2 3/16th inches and the width is 2 inches.Orvin Fjare was born in 1918 in Big Timber, Montana. He graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1937. In 1940, he enlisted in the Army and eventually served as a pilot of a B-24 in the Far East. After returning to Big Timber in 1945 he worked in a clothing store and started building furniture for his home. He became active in city government and several local organizations.Orvin served on the Montana Welfare Board, as Representative to the Montana Legislature form Grass County, a Congressman from the Eastern district of Montana in Washington DC and director of Housing and Urban Development in Helena.Upon returning to Big Timber, Orvin discovered the hobbies of gardening, orchard growing, and hand crafting miniatures. His miniature dollhouses and furniture are distinctive in their use of beautiful hard wood, attention to detail and fine workmanship and are popular at miniature shows.
